Intensive Outpatient Program in Prescott
Alcohol & Drug Addiction Treatment in Arizona
As part of our comprehensive approach to alcohol and drug dependency and addiction treatment, we at Holdfast Recovery offer an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for those struggling with substance abuse. An IOP offers invaluable structure and support for those in recovery, while also allowing you to maintain employment, care for children, and live at home. With an IOP, you spend less time at the treatment center than you would with a partial hospitalization program (PHP) but still have the opportunity to attend multiple treatments and therapy sessions each week.
We offer an array of effective treatment options for individuals suffering from all types of substance abuse disorders and addiction and can help you find the right path for you.

What Is Intensive Outpatient Treatment?
Intensive outpatient treatment is a type of alcohol and drug addiction treatment program that allows individuals to live at home and commute to a rehab center several days a week. This is in contrast to residential treatment programs, in which participants live and spend all of their time at the rehab center for a designated period of time.
With an intensive outpatient program (IOP), you receive much-needed support throughout your recovery and ongoing sobriety while also retaining independence and learning to navigate the challenges of day-to-day life.
Typically, an IOP involves the following:
- Individual therapy
- Group therapy
- Coping strategies
- Relapse management
- Aftercare
At Holdfast Recovery, our IOP requires you to attend treatment at our facility a minimum of three days a week. As a Christian-based facility, our treatment programs involve a whole-person approach to recovery with a focus on mental well-being, trauma treatment, physical fitness, and spiritual strength.
Who Benefits from an Intensive Outpatient Program?
Intensive outpatient programs are ideal for people who are looking for intensive addiction treatment but, for a variety of reasons, simply cannot pack up their lives and move into a residential treatment facility. Maybe you have kids at home or a job you can’t afford to lose. Maybe you aren’t able to take enough time off work to attend an inpatient program or are concerned about the cost of 24-hour on-site care. Maybe you have already tried residential treatment but need more ongoing support to continue in your sobriety. These and other factors could indicate that an IOP is the right choice.
An ideal IOP candidate is someone who:
- Is looking for help in the early to mid-stages of alcoholism or drug addiction
- Has a safe, stable home life
- Is surrounded by supportive, encouraging friends, family members, and loved ones
- Can successfully avoid triggers that may cause relapse in their day-to-day life
- Is ready and able to practice new skills learned in treatment
In contrast, an IOP may not be the right choice for someone who is unable to avoid triggers in their everyday life, or someone who does not have a safe or stable home environment. Individuals with cooccurring mental health disorders or those who require more extensive supervision in order to safely detox may also require a residential or partial hospitalization program rather than an IOP.
At Holdfast Recovery, every new recovery begins with an initial intake assessment. During this evaluation, our team will work with you to find the right treatment plan based on your particular circumstances and needs.
What Makes Our IOP Unique?
Our intensive outpatient program in Prescott is unique in many ways. As a Christian rehab, we partner with local churches and pastors to provide unique opportunities for our clients to reconnect with Jesus and strengthen their recovery through faith.
We also employ a distinctive three-phase approach to alcohol and drug treatment. In most cases, we recommend a 90-day program that begins with more intensive treatment and gradually encourages your increased independence. Typically, clients will attend full-time therapy for the first two months, totaling about 30 hours a week. Along with this, clients attend additional activities in the evening, including 12-step fellowships, men’s group meetings, and Bible studies. In the third month, clients generally taper therapy sessions to 15 hours a week with continued engagement in additional activities. Lastly, our program offers aftercare support and ongoing group meetings for graduates of the program.
Importantly, all of our treatment programs can be tailored to fit your unique situation. Addiction affects each person in a different way; we approach treatment with the same level of personalized support and attention.
